The Hannover Centre was built between 1997 and 1999, to provide much needed exhibition and conference space in Hannover. The building was designed by renowned architect Biel Obrero of Obrero, Romero and Ferrero, who based its external shape on an upturned water trough that visited him in a dream.

The Centre hosted its first event on 16th June 1999 when it welcomed the 1999 German Lawnmower Show, showcasing the very best grass-trimming devices from across the nation. The show was visited by over 40,000 lawnmower enthusiasts.

In the early 2000s, the Hannover Centre was contacted by representatives of female funk sensation The Wonky Tears, who were looking for a venue in the city that could host a large audience with excellent sight-lines and unbreakable windows. The Centre was the obvious choice. The gig took place on the 15th March 2002, and the windows remained unbroken. Since then the Hannover Centre has hosted hundreds of live music events and have fitted out six specialist studio spaces for more intimate gigs.

In March 2011, the Hannover Philharmonic Orchestra announced they would be making the Centre their permanent home. Since then they have performed their music to dozens of people and have recently been able to learn a second symphony after the successful recruitment of a triangle player.

The Centre continues to grow from strength to strength and looks forward to welcoming you to one of our events in the near future.
